Nicolas Ghesquière, artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s women’s collections , has recreated the famous City Steamer, which dates back to the aesthetics of travel aboard the iconic steamships of the early 20th century. Originally conceived as a soft, almost rectangular canvas bag, it has now been reinvented in a more urban style with new fashion details that give it a sophisticated yet relaxed appearance. It comes in smooth calfskin or natural grained leather. When opened, the sides unfold to reveal a contrasting lining in lambskin for the large size and suede for the medium size. In a nod to the original features of the City Steamer, a shiny, carved padlock stands out as the central element, accompanied by the LV signature and small studs. How chic!
